FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS

We are a Spanish social entity that manufactures and delivers Trésdesis, 3D printed arms, free of charge to amputees and people with disabilities all over the world.

More than 100 million people in the world are missing a limb and we have created the first mechanical arm for people without an elbow. Our trésdesis are sent anywhere in the world to improve daily life, employability, schooling and reduce the inequality faced by the people who receive them. 

We currently deliver about 150 Trésdesis per year in more than 60 countries around the world. We will be present wherever our help is needed.

Of course, in Spain we deliver our aid to anyone who needs it and we also have different programs, such as SuperKids, which for the time being are only developed in Spain. 

The Trésdesis are 3D printed arms with prehensile mobility thanks to the joint that each person has (wrist, elbow, shoulder).

The mechanism of all types of trésdesis is similar: with the natural articulation movement of the person, a mechanism of nylon threads is activated that makes the fingers close with force and when this movement is undone, rubber bands return the fingers to their initial position. Our trésdesis are manufactured by our platform of experts in 3D printing with a material called PLA, a plastic from plant resources such as corn starch. Our Technical Aids Development and Innovation Department is already working on myoelectric devices that work with impulses from the back muscles. 

Currently, we offer three types of Trésdesis: 

• Nelly (Hand for people with wrist. It can open and close the fingers thanks to the movement of the wrist). 
• Mery (Arm for people with elbow. It can open and close the fingers thanks to the movement of the elbow). 
• Vicky (Arm for people without elbow. It can open and close the fingers thanks to the movement of the shoulder. Innovation by Ayúdame3D).

All our Trésdesis are adapted through a series of measures that the people who request them send us. We work to make the devices as comfortable, personalized and adjusted as possible so that each beneficiary can make easy use of them. 

For several years, the Technical Aids Development and Innovation team has been working on lower limb projects for different types of amputations. We continue to carry out studies and research to be able to offer these aids as soon as possible. Our goal is to continue working to improve the lives of more people every day. 

We believe in the social value of new technologies and their ability to change lives. For this reason, we not only carry out Trésdesis, but we also develop other types of projects such as Chemobox, personalized serum-holder boxes for children undergoing chemotherapy treatment in hospitals.

In addition, we design unique devices for specific needs such as picking up drawing tools, riding a bike or gripping a guide dog's harness. Each solution is born out of empathy and a desire to improve the quality of life for people around the world.

With the Covid-19 health crisis, all our work was disrupted, but we decided we could not leave it there. We adapted our business to be able to provide coronavirus protection materials to professionals who were fighting on the front line. In less than a month we had delivered more than 20,000 assistive devices to more than 400 centers throughout Spain.

Like any other NGO, we seek awards, sponsorships, humanitarian aid, grants and membership or donations from individuals. 

Our approach encompasses four lines of social business: donations and partnerships, educational programs in schools on social technology, teambuilding activities and corporate volunteering, and the creation of trophies and customized merchandising with sustainable materials. 

We are one of the reference entities in Spain for the creation of trophies and corporate products. We create any product that a company can imagine with all that it entails: 100% recycled material, manufactured on the same 3D printers that change lives and 100% of the profits go to our humanitarian aid. We have worked for most of the major Spanish companies and the more they work with us the more we can help in the world.

In Ayúdame3D we are convinced that through education and literacy in new technologies, work in classrooms to develop the creative-resolutionary mind and the provision of resources to children, we can begin to change the world.

With our technological-social learning programs, Solidarity Market and Helping, we promote and work on the idea that helping is too easy and that there is no need to wait. Everyone can decide to change the problems in their environment with initiative, commitment and effort. These programs are adapted to the needs of each center and to the age of the students, who will be trained in design and 3D printing and will develop social, civic, technological and entrepreneurial skills. The students themselves will make aids that they can create for another child in need.

We develop Corporate Social Responsibility programs of a technological nature in order to create a more ethical and supportive business environment.

During our teambuilding activities, participants, in teams, will be part of the process of assembling prostheses that will later be delivered to people with disabilities around the world.

Thanks to these programs we create solidarity actions that help people all over the world.

At the moment the volunteering option we offer is with a printer, within the HELPERS3D program. This option is only available for people residing in Spain due to logistic issues, but we are working to expand the volunteering territory as well as the options of voluntary collaboration with Ayúdame3D.
