Together, we can change lives: The first 3DLab in South Africa

We’re on a mission to build South Africa’s very first 3D prosthetics lab—bringing independence, dignity, and hope to people with disabilities ????

Imagine not being able to hug your loved ones, cook a meal, or write your name because you’re missing an arm. Now imagine regaining that freedom thanks to 3D-printed prosthetics.

That’s exactly what we do at Ayúdame3D: we provide free prosthetic arms that transform lives.

Since 2017, we’ve gone from delivering 5 prosthetics in Kenya to helping more than 600 people in 65 countries. Now, we’re taking the next step: opening a social impact laboratory in South Africa.

Why South Africa?

At the beginning of 2024, we met Reokeditswe, a South African woman with a double arm amputation. She discovered Ayúdame3D online and asked us for two prosthetics. When she received them, her life changed completely.

For the first time in years, she could wash clothes, iron, or even eat a burger by herself. Her videos and smile filled us with joy—technology had given her back independence and dignity.

But Reokeditswe didn’t stop there. Inspired by her own transformation, she began teaching other beneficiaries how to use their prosthetics, sharing her story online, and becoming a source of hope in her community.

Now she’s taking an even bigger step: creating the first NGO in South Africa together with Ayúdame3D: ALTRUISTIC ONES. Her dream is to open a local 3DLab that will empower dozens of people with amputations—and we’re here to make it happen.

The South Africa 3DLab

This lab will be led by local youth and women, ensuring the project belongs to the community from day one. It will be managed by ALTRUISTIC ONES NGO.

✅ It will produce free 3D-printed prosthetics for people in need.
✅ It will also manufacture other 3D products (educational tools, technical parts, utensils) to generate income and sustain the project long-term.
✅ It will provide training in 3D printing, creating new job opportunities in the community.

Our vision: a lab that not only changes lives today, but continues to do so for generations.

What We Need

To open the doors of the South Africa 3DLab, we need your support to cover the startup costs:

????‍????‍????‍???? Local staff salaries (10 months) → €5,000
???? Equipment & safety – 3D printers, furniture, safety glasses, fire extinguishers → €2,000
⚙️ Production materials & maintenance – tools, spare parts, accessories → €1,000
???? Operational expenses (10 months) – rent, electricity, internet, water → €7,000

???? Total goal: €15,000

This crowdfunding covers only part of the real cost—Ayúdame3D will co-finance the rest to make sure the lab opens and thrives.

Why This Project Will Succeed

This isn’t just an idea—it’s a proven model. We’ve already created two successful labs in Africa:

???? Kenya (2020) – A tech classroom in Kabarnet where young people independently design and print prosthetics and 3D devices.
???? Tanzania (2025) – A newly launched lab in Mwanza that has already transformed more than 15 lives in just a few months.

The South Africa 3DLab will build on this experience with:
Local leadership – run by young people and women in the community, supported by Ayúdame3D.
???? Economic sustainability – free prosthetics plus income from other 3D products.
???? Training & support – technical expertise from Ayúdame3D, based on proven models.
???? Lasting impact – a permanent solution, not temporary aid.
