Guillermo Martínez on Mejor Conectados: technology must be based on empathy

"We all have a responsibility to, if we know something more than the person next to us, share it because in the end that's how you solve problems." 

A few weeks ago our colleague, Guillermo Martínez Gaunas-Vivas, was interviewed by the Mejor Conectados team, a Telefónica content platform.

This initiative was born with the main objective of highlighting the power of human connections, following the idea that "when we connect, we are capable of doing incredible things". To this end, they count on the collaboration of different personalities, such as Teresa Perales or Rafael Nadal, who present their testimonies in first person and accompany them with advice and reflections that serve as learning and inspiration. In the latest Mejor Conectados podcast, Guillermo joins these people to talk about Ayúdame3D and the social value of technology that can improve the lives of many people.

"Connected it is almost impossible not to achieve something, especially when we realize what others know and how to add it to create gigantic things", this is how Guillermo closes the video, after talking about our project and the importance of collaborating to help. Ayúdame3D was born as a personal project after a trip to Kenya, in which Guillermo realizes that there are many people with disabilities in the world and his 3D printing skills can help.

In five years, Ayúdame3D has grown from a single person working from his room to an ecosystem in which many actors are involved with the aim of sharing knowledge and collaborating to solve problems. "It is very important to ask for help, because otherwise you get stuck," explains Guillermo, as it is also important to know who to count on and rely on people around you, this is essential to reach more people and further. In addition, "if you get help from people it will be much more rewarding". Currently, we are present in more than 55 countries and we help more than 150 people a year by delivering our trésdesis, which improve the living conditions of these people.

In Ayúdame3D we always bet on the social value of technology, and how empathy should be the basis of it. We work aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals, using recycled materials and optimizing resources. In addition, we are committed to inclusion, accessibility, equality and empowerment of territories as an engine of change to create a better world.

As we always say, "helping is too easy not to do it". It's up to you to want to change things and do your bit.
