Plastics Europe collaborates in the delivery of 10 trésdesis for people around the world thanks to the #SecondChances campaign in collaboration with Ayúdame3D. It's time to talk about plastic in a positive way.

The material used to manufacture the trésdesis, 3D printed arms, comes from vegetable resources such as corn starch. The printing material for the arms, PLA, is the one that best suits the needs of our work because it weighs very little, it is easily moldable (so that the trésdesis can be 100% adapted) and it is simple to use. It is a very accessible and convenient material for our Helpers3D network and this allows us to create a greater number of aids per year.

At Ayúdame3D we have a way of making positive use of plastic: we use recovered plastic coils to make the whole process more sustainable and we carry out a reconditioning process to ensure that the useful parts have a second life. The campaign #SecondChances by Plastics Europe campaign also shows us just that, that plastic is a material that has multiple lives and can be used to change people's lives.

From Ayúdame3D and Plastics Europe we believe in plastic as a material that offers great opportunities and that, used with respect, often offers unique solutions that improve the lives of others. This is for example the case of the trésdesis, made mostly with recovered plastic, to be resistant and durable. It is important to mention that on the one hand we work with recovered plastic and on the other hand we ensure the repurposing of trésdesis by pieces and second life for some of these in order to be more sustainable.

The #SecondChances by Plastics Europe campaign is the perfect example of how to use plastic in a positive way. 10 people from all over the world are going to have a 3D printed arm that will enable them to have a better quality of life, access better jobs or become more independent. Mahjoub was the first to receive two trésdesis as part of this campaign. Two more are already in Chennai (India) and will be delivered soon. Collaborating to help is fundamental.
