Today we talk about six cartoon characters to teach respect and equality. Do you know them all?
Since its beginnings, the world of cinema has been an important agent of change, directly influencing society. For this reason, on numerous occasions it has been used as a means to make different realities visible. At Ayúdame3D we believe that our differences are what make us equal. We know that with desire and enthusiasm everything can be achieved, it is only necessary to "keep swimming" as Dory taught us.
Representation in children's films is especially important since educating in respect and diversity is fundamental to create a fairer world. In addition, it is necessary that all children can find references in the movies and series they watch.
Today we present you 6 characters with different limbs from movies and cartoons, which are great examples of courage and independence.
1. Finding Nemo (Andrew Stanton, 2003)
Nemo, the main character of the film, has one fin that is smaller than the other, which makes him live in fear of the unknown and is overprotected by his father. However, one day he decides to leave his comfort zone and go on an adventure.
Moreover, Nemo's reality is not the only one that the director wants to make visible in the film. The co-star, Dory, suffers from anterograde amnesia, a type of short-term memory loss that causes a person to forget almost immediately what has just happened. Throughout the film, both characters teach us that it doesn't matter if we don't go at the same speed as everyone else, because the important thing is always to "keep swimming".
2. Luca (Enrico Casarosa, 2021)
Giulia's father, Massimo Marcovaldo, lost his right arm due to an accident. However, this event did not slow him down and he continues to pursue his favorite hobby, fishing, on a daily basis.
Did you know? Massimo could wear one of our trésdesis. The Vicky model, which is designed for people without an elbow and is activated by the natural shoulder joint.
3. Peter Pan (H. Luske, C. Geronimi & W. Jackson, 1953)
Captain Hook is the most feared pirate of the Seven Seas and Peter Pan's greatest rival. In one of his battles, he lost his hand to a crocodile. But this did not stop him from captaining an entire crew, who admire him for his incredible willpower. He also has a large collection of grappling hooks, which help him perform his daily tasks. I'm sure that if he met us he would love to have a Mery trésdesis to help him.
4. How to Train Your Dragon (Chris Sanders & Dean DeBlois, 2010)
Hiccup and Desdetado are the main characters of this saga in which dragons and Vikings coexist and face different adventures together.
Toothless, in the first film, loses one of his tail fins when he arrives on the island. Therefore, Hiccup decides to help him and create a mechanism that can help him fly again.
Some time later Hiccup also loses his leg in one of the battles. So in the village they make him a prosthesis with which he can continue riding his dragon and be the chief of the village.
The process after the events is difficult for both characters. However, their desire to help overcomes all their fears and together they continue to share travels and exploits.
5. Heidi (Isao Takahata, 1974)
Clara has been Heidi's best friend for a long time and together they have shared many moments, both in the city and in the countryside. As a child Clara suffered an accident that damaged her legs, so she uses a wheelchair. Although she is overprotected by her family and at first she is afraid to leave her city, in the end she decides to go on an adventure and travel to the Alps to visit Heidi. There they both happily enjoy and play together.
All these characters show us that their reality is as normal as any other, because our differences make us the same. Which characters have we missed? Which are your favorites?
From Ayúdame3D we want to help to make these realities visible, to achieve progress in equality and break down existing barriers. Helping is too easy not to do it.
