At Ayúdame3D we connect people and bring social technology to every corner to continue helping to change lives, like Richard's, the first person helped in our 3DLab in Kenya.

At Ayúdame3D we have been working every day for five years to help and improve the quality of life of hundreds of people through the social value of technology with our trésdesis. In addition, we consider it essential to create alliances that connect people from different places and that are committed to social projects. This is how our 3DLab in Bamba was born in 2020, which made it possible to establish an independent aid network in Kenya. Our goal is to be able to help anyone who needs it, so each delivery for us is unique and special. Today we want to share with you the story of Richard, the first person helped by our 3DLab.

In 2020 our colleague Guille traveled to Kenya, specifically to the Bamba orphanage, to create the first technological classroom of Ayúdame3D. The idea of this 3DLab was to create an independent aid network that could directly help people in the area. For a few weeks, Guille not only did 3D printing and design development training with Nelson and Lydia, managers of the classroom, but also had the opportunity to participate in other projects that were being carried out from the center.

In one of these initiatives, a person from the orphanage showed natural landscapes of the Rift Valley and nearby villages. When Guille stopped in one of these towns, he explained to the mayor the work that Ayúdame3D was doing and the mayor introduced him to Richard, a neighbor who had lost a hand in a work accident in a factory in Ugali. The meeting was a chance encounter, but this did not prevent the team from helping Richard. They took his measurements and took some pictures with some local tree branches to gather as much information as possible for the fabrication of his new arm.

Changing lives with social technology: trésdesis for Richard

This trésdesis was Lydia and Nelson's first delivery to the 3DLab, so the process was very exciting for the entire team. For three days they worked to create a 100% customized Vicky-type trésdesis . Once completed, Richard visited the 3DLab where he tested the device and, after some final adjustments, after almost four years he was able to hold objects with his left hand again.

From this moment, which we still remember with great enthusiasm, three years have passed and thanks to social technology, which is based on empathy, we continue to demonstrate that helping is too easy not to do it. Do you want to help us change lives with social technology?
